World War I

"And I was then... then interrogated by the intelligence officer up at Tagi and they plonked a map and a bottle of whisky on the table and I just had to go ahead and go right through all of where I had been and what I'd seen and I was able to pinpoint exactly where you know where the concentrations of the troops were and what rivers... a lot of the cases they were not staying on the rivers they were going up into the tributaries coming into the rivers and they felt you know quite safe in there and the helicopters were actually bypassing them and missing them so when these were all pinpointed they were able to really make their raids effective by picking up where these concentrations of troops were and I think it was quite a contributing factor anyhow to softening up that area in anticipation of the army coming through."
