"It was a beautiful evening and I noticed some lights coming into the bay where I was and it turned out that it was a couple of Japanese submarines were coming in unloading supplies and I thought what I saw was a rock on the edge or a bush on the edge of the beach and I crawled up behind that to have a good look at what was going on and to pinpoint it so if I ever got out I would know where they were bringing their supplies in. All of a sudden I saw this man's head with his ear muffs on to stop the cold evening air ... he had ear muffs on luckily and he was just sitting there with his jacket on and his rifle across his knees and I realised then it was a Japanese sentry just watching what was going on ... I was getting quite adept at sneaking away from these people ... I noted where they were unloading the stuff and about a mile further up the coast there was quite a big transport depot where a lot of their trucks were pulled up and they were unattended. They were quite a fair way from the mess hall where they were eating. I could hear this talk going on and I did manage to get to these trucks and I managed to remove the distributor ... I didn't do it surgically but I just pulled them off and threw them into the jungle and I didn't wait around to see what their reaction was.
