"Reg was very hard to frighten. He was a good man to have around you at any time. Until it came to the battle of Chesan.

"One thing about old Reg whenever we did an attack I left him out of battle, you always leave your 2IC out of battle in the attack in case you get hurt yourself in which case you've got your 2IC, you don't want to get both wounded together or killed together but the battle of Chesan I'd left him out of battle as normal and I got wounded and got carted off on a stretcher and old Reg came running up, it had made his day. He'd taken over my job and he was a company commander for the rest of his time in Korea."
