"I remember flying from Japan across to Korea in a Dakota, with bucket seats along the side.
"And I was the only woman on the plane, they were reinforcements, and it was wintertime and icicles formed. It was very cold.
"And then landing at the airport in Seoul midwinter, and the wind coming down from Siberia, and the reception hut probably 200 yards away, wondering whether any of us could possibly reach there alive. Exaggerated, but it was so cold.
"And opening the door into the hut, and a soldier thrust a mug at me and said 'Have some hot tea, Sister.' And I think we've all heard of tea laced with rum. But I really think this was rum laced with tea. It was wow, but it warmed."
